ArcGIS 10 SP 3 released

 

Service Pack 3 for ArcGIS 10 was released today and as usual I am picking some of the issues fixed and posting them here. SP 3 is a big one with 443 fixes for Desktop and only 25 for Server.

Here are the issues I have picked from the bunch.

Desktop

• NIM004239 - Hillshade tool with model shadows option produces artifacts when used with low altitude values.
• NIM008882 - After copying and pasting a legend the copy loses custom legend settings.
• NIM047093 - Cut Polygon Features tool fails on feature classes that have been upgraded from low to high precision spatial references.
• NIM049488 - Weighted Overlay tool returns "Sum of % Influence Weights must equal 100" error when 5 or more input rasters are using user-defined % influence values.
• NIM053780 - Some floating point ASCII files display as integer rasters in ArcGIS Desktop.
• NIM055952 - When Building overviews, when the projection of the Mosaic Dataset and the Map differ, a tear (sliver) appears at certain scales (data across multiple UTM zones).
• NIM056042 - Calculate Adjacent Fields: Geometry restrictions are too strict. Users should be able to use this tool for grids that are not "perfect".
• NIM056576 - Calculate Field with Expression None and Expression Type PYTHON or PYTHON9.3 does nothing and no error/warning given. Calculate Field with Expression Null and Expression Type VB works fine. Occurs on numeric and text fields.
• NIM057253 - Projection information marked as Undefined in ArcGIS 10, but is read correctly by ArcGIS 9.3.1 SP1.
• NIM057356 - An unexpected error occurs when selecting by location on a layer that has a join and a definition query defined from joined field(s).
• NIM058074 - Performance of Calculate Field tool needs to be as fast with selection sets as it is without a selection when using SDE data.
• NIM059158 - In ArcGIS 10, fields are not displayed in field calculator when the raster attribute table has a joined table.
• NIM059194 - A 4 bit raster does not display in ArcGIS 10 when pyramids or overviews are present.
• NIM059888 - The legend patch size, title font, and spacing between items revert back to odd values if the values are changed and saved.
• NIM060426 - Toolbar cannot be placed in a desired docked position where it remains after closing and reopening a map.
• NIM060754 - Line Decoration does not honor the settings when the dataframe is rotated.
• NIM060806 - Text Boundary shifts when editing inline formatting of annotation with baseline alignment.
• NIM061029 - ArcMap crashes when exporting a map built with Data Driven Pages to PDF when the frame of the extent indicators is set with offset cartographic line symbols and the PDF pages options are set to multiple pages using page names.
• NIM061425 - Attributes of a featureclass become Read-Only when attempted to be edited through 'Attribute Edit window' after joining to a table in ArcGIS 10.
• NIM061605 - Using arcpy.mapping to move to the next time interval updates the map, but not the time slider.
• NIM061613 - Importing XML to file geodatabase using Case Tools in ArcGIS 10 (ArcCatalog) removes domains from tables.
• NIM061709 - When using Data Driven Pages with a Scale field, the data are not always centered in the layout.
• NIM061731 - Some parts of the TIFF image disappears when zoomed in close.
• NIM061779 - Strip Map Index Features tool produces an Output Feature Class having gaps along the strip.
• NIM062054 - Cutting polygon with condensed vertices causes ArcMap to crash.
• NIM062058 - Certain IMGs fail in the Zonal Statistics as Table tool in ArcMap 10 that worked in 9.3.1.
• NIM062251 - Cannot animate an ArcSDE feature class added from a direct connection when a server name is not specified in the spatial database connection properties.
• NIM062704 - Editing features using the attribute window may cause ArcMap to crash.
• NIM062844 - The Split tool has been enhanced to allow the ability to divide a line into more than 99 equal segments. Also, Construct Points has been enhanced to allow the creation of more than 999 new points.
• NIM063027 - Unable to successfully open map documents in 10 resaved in a previous version that contain unreferenced inserted images in the data frame; receive error 'Opening the selected ArcMap document failed. The data frames of the map document could not be read.'
• NIM063302 - Explode Multi-part feature tool empties the feature cache when used on a non multi-part feature.
• NIM063466 - The Mosaic function does not read the 'first' and 'last' mosaic method properly.
• NIM063816 - Zonal Statistics as Table fails with a large feature data set when using a "string" field as the zone field value.
• NIM064548 - Multiple attachments display when identifying a feature pointing to a historical version.
• NIM064600 - Scale dropdown list in ArcMap stops functioning after removing Add Data button from standard toolbar.
• NIM064663 - Slower connection time after upgrading geodatabase to ArcSDE 10.0, related to GDB_ITEMS table queries.
• NIM064691 - Importing PNG8 tiles on existing PNG8 tiles causes tiles to be overwritten instead of being blended.
• NIM064800 - Weighted Overlay crashes using common scale values for text fields.
• NIM064813 - The Fishnet tool fails to create output (when run three times in a row).
• NIM064860 - Make Query Table tool crashes ArcMap when selecting ObjectID of input table as Key Field.
• NIM065031 - In Data Driven pages with rotated data frames the north arrow shrinks when viewing the different pages.
• NIM065041 - In ArcMap, upon executing a geoprocessing tool in background that has a network analysis layer as derived output, the network dataset layer referenced by the input network analysis layer cannot be used for any further analysis.
• NIM065098 - Unable to Z Snap, by moving a vertex in "Classic Snapping".
• NIM065375 - Incorrect renaming of the Geodatabase object within ArcCatalog; results in corruption of GDB_items table and makes the renamed objects unusable within ArcCatalog.
• NIM065384 - The Grid Index Features tool in Data Driven Pages does not save the "connect" link for parameter > "Generate Polygon Grid features that intersects input feature layers and datasets".
• IM065445 - Adding a shapefile to a basemap layer will leak GDI objects each time the map is refreshed after changing the extent.
• NIM065524 - Weighted Overlay tool errors out when rasters are accessed via a group layer using user defined % influence values.
• NIM065725 - Web maps created or modified after March 2, 2011 (when the web map format was changed) can't be opened in ArcGIS Desktop 10.0. ArcMap 10.0 gives you the message "Invalid Web Map". ArcMap 10.0 SP1 gives you the message "Could not open the specified file." You should be able to open these web maps in 10.0 at the same level of support as earlier web maps (i.e. ArcMap will open the map but omit the map note features and any other currently unsupported content).
• NIM065895 - The Extract Values to Points tool gives incorrect values for geometrically valid features following a feature class with null geometry.
• NIM065978 - The patterns in a Marker Line Symbol may shift during Export or Printing when the line features intersect with the map frame.
• NIM065999 - ArcCatalog and ArcMap send usernames and passwords to token secured ArcGIS Server endpoints with the HTTP GET method which is logged in clear text in web server logs. (Using HTTP POST will instead prevent web servers from logging clear text passwords.)
• NIM066223 - Using an iterate file in ModelBuilder with KML to Layer tool causes ArcMap to crash when it attempts to go to the second iteration.
• NIM066402 - Multiple Ring Buffer tool has issue in the tool validator code that causes problems in ModelBuilder (using intermediate output data as input to M-R-Buffer is tricky).
• NIM066475 - ArcGIS Administrator is unable to return borrowed licenses if DNS resolution is required to reach the license manager.
• NIM066711 - The Generate Near Table tool crashes when processing more than one feature class in the Near Features field.
• NIM066815 - Colors of rasterized elements, raster layers, and inserted raster pictures are inverted when exporting to PDF in CMYK colorspace. This happens with JPEG or Adaptive image compressions.
• NIM066846 - Composite locator leaks memory in ArcGIS Server and may cause stability issues with the geocode service if system resources get low.
• NIM066864 - Masking is dropped when a map is exported to PDF, EPS, AI, and PNG for layers which utilize true curves.
• NIM067081 - ArcMap crashes performing 'Copy Parallel' on certain features.
• NIM067117 - Generate Near Table hangs when the maximum number of closest matches parameter is set to a number that exceeds what will be returned.
• NIM067121 - When identifying a mosaic dataset in ArcMap, it returns values for the rasters that are not displaying.
• NIM067135 - A map containing two or more layers, symbolized with cartographic representations, creates different EPS export file sizes until the map has been exported four or more times in a row. Visually, the maps are identical.
• NIM067203 - Maplex Reduce Font Size is not working for point labels.
• NIM067257 - When using a Feature Set with the Multiple Ring Buffer in a Model an error is generated.
• NIM067258 - Files greater than 1GB produced with Export to PDF (either UI or ArcPy) get created but can't be opened.
• NIM067561 - One representation line symbol layer appears thinner when exported to PDF at 1200dpi; 1100dpi and lower and 1210dpi and higher are fine.
• NIM067760 - The Fillet tool can crash ArcMap if a 3rd party software is installed that is not managing events correctly.
• NIM067967 - Calculate statistics in memory for rasters that do not have valid statistics as required by the function.
• NIM068057 - Invalid Package error returned when unpacking a package if the My Documents has been redirected to a location using a UNC path.
• NIM068206 - A mosaic dataset has slivers/gaps between overviews when the data frame is in a different projection than the mosaic dataset.
• NIM068265 - The Multiple Ring Buffer tool generates unexpected output when more than two distances are specified and the dissolve option is set to "ALL" (ArcView and ArcEditor license level only).
• NIM068460 - The spatial reference information is not recognized for ECW images.
• NIM068587 - Adding a new field to a layer that has a Definition Query causes ArcMap to crash after being in an Edit Session.
• NIM068659 - ArcMap crashes when exporting a video from the Time Slider on Win 7 machines.
• NIM069245 - Reference scale is cleared out when zooming in and out with certain layers after installing ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 2.
• NIM069514 - Extract Values To Points with option for appending attributes of raster incorrectly writes string field values. Also creating incorrect values in the table.
• NIM069516 Build overview does not take the default mosaic method defined in the mosaic dataset.
• NIM069683 - Line events are not offset parallel to underlying routes.
• NIM069863 - When exporting a mxd to PDF that contains a polygon feature class symbolized using a representation rule designed with a hatch fill pattern that is partially covered using the donut effect, the polygons that cross the edge of the data frame do not retain the donut effect and appear symbolized with a solid.
• NIM070077 - Overviews are incorrect when high resolution data is added to a mosaic dataset before low resolution data is added.
• NIM070106 - Selecting a row from the Raster Attribute table on a 16-bit unsigned raster causes ArcMap to crash.
• NIM070159 - A memory leak while reading Bathymetric Attributed Grid (BAG) format crashes ArcMap.
• NIM070195 - CV table of Kernel Interpolation dialog in the Wizard has 3 columns filled with NaN for 10 SP1 and 10 SP2.
• NIM070285 - GALayerToGrid GP tool is too slow when non single sector searchneighborhood is used (fast in 9.3.1 and slow in 10).
• NIM070349 - Converting Scale Text to graphics in layout view changes the text from the current scale to the default text in the Scale Text Selector dialog box.
• NIM070495 - Import Mosaic Dataset Geometry does not recognize the fields added to the mosaic dataset in the same model.
• NIM070623 - Make Grids and Graticules Layer: Shift in tick placement.
• NIM070624 - Make Grids and Graticules Layer: User modifications to coordinate systems properties not persisted.
• NIM070625 - Make Grids and Graticules Layer: Point features do not clip to the AOI/Neatline like gridlines.
• NIM070675 - Add Field to Analysis Layer tool should succeed with warnings if the field already exists.
• NIM070676 - Add Field To Analysis Layer GP tool crashes when a map layer object is specified as input network analysis layer.
• NIM070757 - Some TIFF datasets written in ArcGIS 10 don't display in the correct location in 9.3.1 when the projection units is feet.
• NIM070854 - Fail to publish the service with default layer in 10.0 SP2.

Server

• NIM051468 - The Service Configuration tag <SchemaLockingEnabled> does not work for MXD map services with File Geodatabase feature classes.
• NIM063428 - Marker symbol offset setting is ignored with MSD-based map service when feature access is enabled.
• NIM064027 - Publishing an Esri Optimized Map Service with a Query Layer takes longer than publishing the same MXD as a Classic Map Service.
• NIM064918 - ArcGIS Server WMS services should not use the cache when the request's coordinate system does not match that of the cached service.
• NIM065844 - Using the tool 'Export Map Server Cache' crashes ArcGIS Desktop if the cache to be exported was created with a previous version of ArcGIS Server.
• NIM070046 - ArcCatalog crashes while generating a map cache with more than 16 or 30 instances when using a feature class at scales larger than 18K.
• NIM070188 - A query layer operation through the service directory against a layer with a Point ZM SHAPE field hangs, or returns an error message, when the return geometry is set to true.
• NIM070446 - The blending feature in Import Map Cache Server tool corrupts adjacent areas in cache tiles.
  NIM070874 - MapServerLegendInfo does not return the raster legend class when legend symbol is null.

REST API

Java:

• NIM071096 - Validate user input before writing to the HTML pages in the Services Directory.

.Net:

• NIM066822 - MaxJsonLength exceeded error message is returned when an input geometry to an SOE contains a large number of vertices.
• NIM070072 - Input to operations in Geoprocessing Service and Geometry Service are not culture invariant.
• NIM071005 - Validate user input before writing to the HTML pages in the Services Directory.
• NIM071006 - When input is invalid, clean-up input data returned in error messages.
• NIM071110 - Time is not honored if the identify operation is layers:layerid option is used in the request.

ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 2 released

Second service pack for ArcGIS is now available. This SP address large number (439 to be exact) of issues and as before below you can find selection of issues mainly for ArcGIS Desktop.




ArcGIS General

• NIM056609 - MapDoc.dataDrivenPages throws a poor error when the map document is not DDP enabled. 
• NIM058851 - Alternating Scale Bar fills in solid black when zooming in. 
• NIM061933 - Multi-ring Buffer tool clips output buffers if Dissolve: All is specified. 
• NIM062577 - When running Mean center on data with all negative values for a particular case, the tool fails. 
• NIM062580 - Ripleys K fails with the Reduce or Ripley Correction methods if user-provided parameter values produce an empty study area polygon. The error message provided isn't helpful. 
• NIM062715 - Add Geoprocessing History page to FGDC metadata style. 
• NIM063852 - The service pack information does not appear in the help > about box; the Desktop applications are pointing to the wrong registry information. 
• NIM063958 - Handle & and other xml escaped characters properly in AddIn info element nodes. 
• NIM064292 - Using output coordinate system seems to work, but the calculated search threshold seems to ultimately be interpreted in the input coordinate system units.

• NIM061168 - Requesting for configuring metadata style sheet location. 
• NIM061306 - Some elements are missing in the metadata editor. 
• NIM061351 - Metadata fails to save URL (linkages) that are in uppercase. 
• NIM062571 - if FGDC metadata hasn't been upgraded and it has elements corresponding to the item description that contain the & or < characters, the metadata can't be displayed. 
• NIM062690 - On Resource Details page, text typed into Processing Environment won't save. 
• NIM063272 - On the Lineage page in the ArcGIS metadata editor, a red X isn't available to let you remove a process step from the metadata. 
• NIM064630 - Information describing the domain of an attribute's values is not formatted correctly in the item's metadata. 
• NIM064631 - Saving changes in metadata editor doesn't update metadata date stamps. 
• NIM064635 - In Metadata Editor the ability to increase the size of the text boxes that are used to provide the Summary, Usage etc. If you have a long description in the Summary text box you have such a small space to work with that you keep having to scroll back and forth.

• NIM064641 - Don't show Export or Validate buttons if the metadata style doesn't include default values for them in the Config file. 

ArcGIS\Controls

• NIM053147 - Engine TOCControl layer drag and drop not functioning correctly. 
• NIM058170 - When a globe document is added from the ‘Open Document’ tool in an ArcGIS Engine application based on the ‘GlobeControl Application’ template, the globe shakes/wobbles considerably while panning. 
• NIM058798 - Performance when loading/panning/zooming a Globe Control application using 3D map service layers is extremely poor. 
• NIM060630 - ArcEngine controls (ArcGIS 10.0 and Visual Studio 2008) should initialize gdi+ on their own. 
• NIM064391 - Add the common controls 6.0 specification to all the controls and the Measure Tool. 
• NIM064648 - Setting a text background on SnapTips causes GDI objects to leak.

• NIM060162 - Some TIFF images with YCbCr JPEG compression are not displayed properly (9.3 eq). 
• NIM060238 - ECW is temporarily shown as invalid dataset. 
• NIM060603 - When 'Mosaic dataset Tutorial Exercise 7' is performed on Windows 7 operating system in background mode, ArcGIS throws an error or crashes. 
• NIM060642 - Secure WCS Service cannot be previewed in ArcCatalog and cannot be added in ArcMap. 
• NIM060734 - Mosaic dataset renders incorrectly in Web applications when published as an image service. 
• NIM060759 - Rasters with tag AREA_OR_POINT are incorrectly lining up in ArcGIS Desktop that did not at previously releases. 
• NIM060880 - Get invalid raster dataset error when opening certain CCITT group 4 compressed 1 bit single band tiff image (9.3 eq). 
• NIM061452 - Spatial reference along with the units is not read correctly for TIFF images. 
• NIM061537 - NoData value of certain 32-bit floating point raster is read incorrectly. 
• NIM061608 - Statistics created for TIFF images in 10 are stored internallly which can not be read in 9.3.1. 
• NIM061728 - Exporting a 3- band raster doesn't allow Force RGB, even when switching to stretched renderer. 
• NIM063257 - PolygonToRaster - output cell size and extent values do not have decimal values in comma locale when input cell size has decimals (only with grid output and only reproducible in 10). 
• NIM063792 - Cell size and extents of some TIFFs are read incorrectly and the image is misaligned. 
• NIM063867 - ArcMap/ArcCatalog will freeze and will not respond if you move the mouse cursor outside ArcGIS application while filling radial distortion information when adding applanix raster to mosaic data. 
• NIM063917 - GRID image that has 16-bit color index in the attribute table cannot be rendered correctly with UV renderer. 
• NIM063920 - Mosaic Operator Blend still generates sharp edges. 
• NIM063921 - Compute statistics crash with different parameter. 
• NIM063926 - Create file format referenced mosaic dataset failed with error. 
• NIM063968 - Random crashes occurring in iterative scripts when using Spatial Analyst tools when changing cell size. 
• NIM064058 - A mosaic dataset with function on top could be broken after performing a copy/paste to a different location. 
• NIM064358 - Tables based raster types fail to load records into the MD if images dont exist, and if they are defined in the RPDef. 
• NIM064487 - "UseByDefault" property on the network attribute object obtained from describing SDC network datasets returns incorrect values. 
• NIM064535 - Service overview generation fails if the sources images are many images in BAG format. 

ArcGIS\Editor

• NIM059092 - Provide the ability to extend an existing line or add a part to a multipart feature without adding a new record to the attribute table. 
• NIM059249 - ArcMap crashes in an edit session when clicking the layer name in the Attributes window. 
• NIM062020 - The context menus for the Rectangle, Ellipse, and Circle construction tools are disabled with ArcView licenses. 
• NIM062267 - Creating an Add-in using ITableWindow3 to get reference to Active table window crashes ArcMap. 
• NIM062842 - Load object command crashes ArcMap in ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 1. 
• NIM063134 - Flags and barriers should not be placed on network features excluded by the Definition Query. 
• NIM063158 - Setting the default attribute value in the Feature Template properties does not result in the creation of a feature template 
• NIM063457 - Mechanism required to disable/enable the display of selectable state with the Representation Select and Direct Select tools. 
• NIM063552 - Splitting a custom feature with relationship class may fail if the custom feature overrides the default split behavior and if the relationship notification has been turned on. 
• NIM063936 - Annotation templates are displayed when source layer/subclass is scale surpressed. 
• NIM063992 - When the flag/barrier cannot be placed because the underlying element is corrupt, the error message should be shown in a message box. 
• NIM064112 - Using Copy Parallel on a Vertical line crashes ArcScene and ArcMap. 
• NIM064370 - ArcMap crashes when zooming by rolling the mouse wheel while in the middle of a trace. 
• NIM064241 - ArcMap crashes when you use the Ellipse tool on the Raster Painting toolbar. 
• NIM064553 - With feature templates for the Unique values, many fields renderer may not be created correctly in some cases. Shapefile specific issue. 
• NIM064586 - The Start Editing dialog is causing a GDI leak when you have datasets from multiple workspaces. 

ArcGIS\Framework

• NIM061350 - ICommandItem.Style property does not work in ArcGIS 10.0. 
• NIM061747 - In ArcGIS 10x, Topo to Raster fails with a specific feature class in a file Geodatabase (works fine in 9.3). 
• NIM062255 The cursor for 'Sketch tool' in the editor toolbar does not function properly when invoked programmatically. 
• NIM063656 ArcMap application crashes when the GDI objects in the Task Manager increase more then 10,000 for the ArcMap process. 

ArcGIS\GeoAnalyst

• NIM040904 - The Fill tool fails to execute on a large raster dataset. 
• NIM053647 - Combinatorial tools produces incorrect field name when input is not an Esri Grid. 
• NIM055981 - Zonal Statistics As Table geoprocessing tool fails to execute when using an integer mosaic dataset. 
• NIM061295 - Certain Spatial Analyst tools fail to execute with a multiband raster input. (Includes BoundaryClean, Expand (and other Generalization tools), Filter, FuzzyMembership, ZonalGeometry, among others.) 
• NIM061748 - CellStatistics & Combine create incorrect outputs when input rasters have different spatial references. 
• NIM062534 - PolygonToRaster hangs if cellsize is changed from default (480) to 100 (101 and 99 is good), and bleeding occurs when cellsize is changed to 75. This appears to be data specific. 
• NIM062925 - ObserverPoint creates incorrect output when the output format is pgdb or img. 
• NIM062927 - Cutfill (and other tools) with FGDB workspace crash when run in a loop using arcpy. 
• NIM062929 - Non-grids with pyramids gives incorrect results when resampled internally while using a geoprocessing tool. 
• NIM062931 - FeatureToRaster (polygon input) crashes when Cancel button is used. 
• NIM063267 - CellStatistics executes slower than SingleOutputMapAlgebra in python. 
• NIM063268 - TileSize environment setting is not honored by Spatial Analyst tools in python when output is in FGDB. 
• NIM063269 - Local functions do not accept NetCDF raster layer or raster layer made by MakeRasterLayer tool as input in Python. 
• NIM063270 - Math tools create incorrect output when inputs contain NetCDF raster layer. 
• NIM063275 - Divide, Plus, etc. tools truncate floating-point constant to integer if the constant is like "100.0." 
• NIM063276 - An empty long or double variables cannot be connected to math tools using the Connect tool in Model Builder. 
• NIM063278 - Rank tool creates incorrect result when output is not a grid with this case (possibly because of a pixel-type predication error). 
• NIM063324 - Raster to Feature and Contour tools are creating a .CPG file when output is sent to shapefile.

• NIM058037 - Append tool with Schema Type TEST fails when appending feature class with representation fields to a new empty feature class with identical field schema. 
• NIM058627 - The GP tools freeze if the user attempts to write new feature class to feature dataset with a lot of Relationship classes in it. 
• NIM058666 - ArcPy Layer.saveACopy method fails when saving to the previous version. 
• NIM058800 - Re-open 10-27-10 "ExportToTIFF" function does not write GeoTIFF tags when 'geoTIFF_tags' parameter is set to "True". 
• NIM059832 - Polygon To Raster and Polyline To Raster - incorrect densification when true curves are encountered.

• NIM063253 - SharePackage tool when run from Python does not add the package to the ArcGIS online group.

• NIM064043 - Using the Field Calculator to execute a Python codeblock to calculate sequential numbers on a selected set of features in a Geodatabase feature class only calculates sequential values in groups of 250 features. After each 250 features the sequential numbering starts over again. 
• NIM064252 - Add Rule To Topology tool and Remove Rule From Topology tool needs entries for new rules added at ArcGIS 10. 
• NIM064327 - Grids and Graticules Designer: Restore Decimal point in Decimal Degrees annotations style. 
• NIM064328 - Make Grids and Graticules Layer: Grid Anno does not rotate to text symbol angle. 
• NIM064329 - Grid Layout View: Configure layout is setting data frame extent to null if it had a fixed extent.

• NIM058744 - ArcGIS Server is not creating elevation cache tiles between Face T4 and T2 along the 45°N latitude.

• NIM060831 - The legend of a KMZ file created in ArcGIS 10 using the Map to KML tool shows blank in Google Earth.

• NIM061177 - Multipart annotation with characters > 255 result in incorrect characters when exported to PDF, even with embedded fonts. 
• NIM062024 - DDP Export - After exporting to PDF from a DDP enabled map Deselection of elements is not working as it should. 
• NIM062067 - A legend title with certain characters that has formatting set to Bold, Underline, and Arial font has a shorter underline when exported as a PDF. 
• NIM062987 - Map rendering problem when moving overlying windows. 
• NIM064101 - Multipart annotation with characters > 255 when symbolized with UniversCom-55Oblique.ttf add an additional glyph, Unicode 63743, to the end of the first text string when exported to EPS. 
• NIM064458 - Cartographic line symbology with a negative offset causes ArcMap and ArcCatalog to crash when at a large scale. 
• NIM064497 - For maps that contain view extents not present in the spatial ref's extent, ArcMap hangs or crashes when exporting to PDF with the Export Map Georeference Information checkbox turned on. 
• NIM064647 - Memory leak occurs with offset Geometries. 

ArcGIS\Map

• NIM051041 - Adding an annotation feature to a new Annotation Class causes incorrect rotation when the data frame is rotated. 
• NIM051154 - Querying XY event layer with ArcGIS Extension for Google API does not generate correct output. 
• NIM057360 - Event layers created from Excel tables that have been joined cannot be exported to shapefile or feature class format, causing a crash (ver 9x) or several error messages (ver 10). 
• NIM057594 - Have the application auto-pick the related field if it is the same name/type when defining a relate. This would be similar to the existing user experience when creating a join. 
• NIM058020 - In ArcGIS 10 while using Model-builder, imported Symbology for Feature set variable is not seen on display. 
• NIM058159 - Memory leak occurs when using the IDynamicDrawScreen.DrawScreenPolyline method. 
• NIM058173 - A REST query and identify on the same envelope bring back different geometry for the same point feature, when a transformation from 1927 to 1984 is present in the map document.

• NIM060043 - When a larger size image is requested with a higher dpi than the original map, which is cached at 96dpi, the image looses transparency and fills it with black color. 
• NIM060411 - Two representation styles with numerous marker points draw much slower than a comparable standard symbology style. 
• NIM060918 - When editing in multiple ArcMap Sessions, Label Feature disappears when Map extents are zoomed to a newly created feature in subsequent ArcMap Sessions. 
• NIM060496 - Line labels do not appear on the line while zoomed out when there is a reference scale set on the Data Frame and the feature class option 'Scale symbols when a reference scale is set' is unchecked. 
• NIM061094 - The Find tool does not work with a decimal point or a single quote. 
• NIM061516 - Extent rectangles with leader lines set at certain scales point horizontally. Then when data frame is selected, ArcMap crashes. 
• NIM061543 - Right-clicking on multiple selected pictures and choosing "properties" from the context menu crashes ArcMap. 
• NIM061730 - ArcMap is drawing errors when labeling an X,Y event layer created from a table in an ArcSDE geodatabase not registered with the geodatabase. 
• NIM061708 - Unable to set the margin size at the Data Driven Page in a bi-directional environment. 
• NIM061803 - The Identify tool is not returning values for symbols which are offset from their base geometry by geometric effects or property overrides.

• NIM063319 - The "reaspect" parameter doesn't work for MXD based WMS. 
• NIM063842 - In ArcCatalog nearest neighbor pyramids are created for TIFF images when bilinear or cubic is selected. 
• NIM064015 - Representation layer is issuing extra queries for maximum size values. 
• NIM064076 - Date fields in reports generated with ArcGIS Desktop 10 display as null values when the date format is dd/mm/yyyy and the value for dd is greater than 12. 
• NIM064263 - Optimized MapServer draws labels from all features of a time-enabled-layer even when "time" is set. This only happens when the layer has null symbol. 
• NIM064392 - When the map has complex symbols, the list by selection view of the table of contents leaks objects when selecting features in the map. 
• NIM064508 - Unable to remove a watermark from a report after it has been added. 
• NIM064546 - The Create Report Wizard does not appear when the command is clicked. 
• NIM064566 - Loading or running a report from an .rlf with field sorting set to descending resets the sort order to ascending.

ArcGIS\NetworkAnalyst

• NIM059437 - Cannot generate driving directions on network data created by dissolving a network dataset that had alternate street names. 
• NIM063129 - Cannot generate driving directions on a network dataset created by dissolving a network dataset that has new street name field settings. 
• NIM064178 - One override point is missing when dissolving a particular network dataset. 
• NIM063937 - VRP solver has very slow solve times (building routes) in ArcLogistics when soft zones are implemented. 
• NIM064389 - Improve performance of the VRP solver for school bus routing. 
• NIM064486 - Service Area solver does not properly accumulate negative weight cost values for accumulated attributes on the Lines features. 
• NIM064489 - When using the VRP solver and importing invalid locations that are excluded from the solve, an error is raised. The solver should just ignore the invalid locations. 

ArcGIS\System

• NIM061884 - When using the Editor's Trace Tool to create a new network edge feature, the "Multipart feature geometries not supported” error is raised while tracing an edge feature which contains a true curve. 

ArcGIS\Tracking

• NIM063431 - A Tracking license is being consumed when starting ArcMap, in addition to the ArcInfo license. 

ArcGIS License Manager 

• NIM064547 - The offline authorization of concurrent use licenses might result in a loss of licenses. 
• NIM064730 - Borrowing fails if a license manager has expired licenses even if a valid licenses exist on the license manager. 
• NIM064966 - The offline authorization for the License Manager needs to be modified so that it's only a one step process. 
• NIM065544 - The Software Authorization Wizard fails to refresh license counts on authorization requests even after correction. 

ArcGIS Server

• NIM058723 - The error message received when a user is unable to publish a service with mobile capabilities because a custom extent has not been defined has been corrected. 
• NIM061813 - SOM crashes when trying to reconnect to a previously disabled machine when the entire system is under high load. 
• NIM062084 - GP service does not work with standard server license (works with advanced license). 
• NIM062995 - Validation of an agsadmin user fails if that user belongs to another group that is part of the agsadmin group. 
• NIM064005 - Server logs are growing beyond limits set by property. 
• NIM064445 - Optimize memory usage when when creating multiple server connections under load.

ArcGIS 9.3.1 SP 2 released

While part of Esri team was busy developing ArcGIS 10 another part was busy working on issues in 9.3.1 version. Service pack 2 is fixing a number of issues. Exact counts are below.

ArcGIS Desktop

• NIM014000 - Converting EMF picture marker symbols to representations may result in unexpected jaggedness of outlines and missing interior fill elements.
• NIM031270 - Selecting cartographic representation with the cartographic representation select tool is significantly slower than selecting with the editor tool and the selection tool.
• NIM036834 - If you have an exception that has a dirty area crossing it and validate the topology the exception becomes an error.
• NIM037043 - When a feature is selected, and a reference scale is used, the selected point feature ignores the reference scale.
• NIM039914 - If a data frame contains one or more polygon layers symbolized with bar graphs, no attributes are included in the PDF export, even with the export option 'Export PDF Layers and Feature Attributes' selected.
• NIM041239 - Stopping the trace tool at the beginning of a true curve adds a circle to the sketch.
• NIM042869 - Using Near tool with default search tolerance gets incorrect results, as not all input features can find the distance to the near feature.
• NIM043178 - ArcMap crashes when reconciling and memory increases to almost 2GB (virtual bytes).
• NIM047109 - Spatial join in SDE geodatabase does not return any rows.

• NIM054377 - Hash line symbols have inconsistent spacing compared to cartographic line symbols.
• NIM054416 - Features in conflict do not draw in the Conflict Detection window if layer is drawn with representations and you are not the data owner.
• NIM055237 - Calculate Locations geoprocessing tool does not honor the parameter values for the location fields when run from a python script.
• NIM056157 - After exporting the shapefile to a personal geodatabase feature class, the value for the geometry's grid is not correctly calculated; this results in the features disappearing in random map scales.
• NIM056289 - Reconcile fails with the error, "Feature is deleted. The operation was attempted on an empty geometry."
• NIM056710 - Memory leak in the in-memory feature class.

ArcGIS Server general fixes

• NIM036787 - WMS enabled map service is a little shifted (a pixel or two) against the original data when both are added into ArcMap. The shift is not present if WMS capability is not enabled for the map service. - Informix Direct Connect does not work for Linux ArcGIS Server.
• NIM049389 - ArcGIS Server WMS Service layer in ArcMap does not render at the scale range set in the .mxd.
• NIM050650 - Python Object ARCSDESQLEXECUTE returns encoded output when used on Solaris with ArcGIS Server.
• NIM051258 - Java applications connecting to ArcGIS Server through local connections (DCOM) are disconnected from the server after a 10-minute time out period.
• NIM052700 - Korean fonts do not allow ArcGIS Server Services .Net to start on Windows 2003 Korean edition.
• NIM056870 - 9.3 Image service WMS doesn't support XML format for exceptions and will return an error if accessed using ArcGIS 10 as client.

REST API fixes

• NIM042583 - REST Query Layer and KML Server requests do not return valid KML if the layers in the map document used to create the service have a geometry field named something other than SHAPE.
• NIM052721 - Update Java REST API in 9.3.1 SP2 to not generate ETags by default for tiles fetched from cached map services.
• NIM052853 - Round-robin or failover does not work as expected in the Java REST handler.
• NIM053837 - In the .Net REST handler the REST URL response grows with every page refresh when using the Sitemap parameter.
• NIM054974 - In the .Net REST handler the MapService Query operation fails when SHAPE field is included in the list of outfields and returngeometry is also set to true.

Web ADF

• NIM049896 - The ArcIMS TCPConnection crashes the IIS Application pool if the first initial connection fails.
• NIM051455 - Floating panel and task dialogs move unexpectedly when touching the left or right edge of the browser when using DIR=RTL mode applications in IE6 and IE7.
• NIM054547 - Transparency in a Web application is not honored for PNG32 image type when the service is an MXD-based dynamic map service.

ArcGIS Mobile

• NIM039695 - GPS cursor doesn't point correct direction after rotating map in ArcGIS Mobile application

Java manager

• NIM049466 - Exported WebService Handler throws error when accessing WSDL through URL on WebSphere v7.
• NIM052355 - SOAP requests returning non-English characters including map identify with Arabic characters do not work with some clients such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
